Anasakti Ashram

Located around 500 meters from the Kausani Market, the Anasakti Ashram became more relevant when the Father of the Nation resided here in 1929. During his for 14 days long stay, he penned a commentary on Anashkti Yog, called ‘Geeta-Anashakti-Yog’ which is lauded as the gospel of selfless action. Also, mesmerized by the beauty of Kausani, he described Kausani as the ‘Switzerland of India’. One can explore the museum inside the ashram which has Mahatma Gandhi’s photographs, his literary works as well as and related memorabilia such as his Charkha (The Spinning Wheel) etc.

Bagnath Temple

Bagnath Temple is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shivasituated in city of Bageshwar near Kausani at the confluence of Sarayu & Gomati rivers. Believed to be the Fifth Dham after the Uttarakhand’s Char Dham Yatra, the Bagnath Temple is festooned with bells of all sizes & features impressive carvings. The Bagnath Temple was built by Chand ruler Laxmi Chand in 1450 & the city of Bageshwar derives its name from this temple. The statutes established within the temple date from 7th century to 16th century and this pious place is being presently preserved by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI).
