About the Ramnagar

Ramnagar is located at the foothills of the Himalayas on the bank of river Kosi at an elevation of 345 metres. Ramnagar is a small town and is visited by many tourists due to its geographical location near Corbett National Park. The Garjiya Devi Temple as well as the Kosi Barrage in Ramnagar where many migratory birds arrive in winter also attract lots of tourists each year.

Corbett National Park & Tiger Reserve

Spread across 520 sq. kms., Corbett National Park is a favorite destination for Jungle Safari among wildlife enthusiasts &tourists. Established in 1936, Corbett National Park wasAsia’s first National Park and after launching the Tiger Project, it has been expanded to an area of 1,318.54 sq. kms. Initially called Hailey National Park, this National Park was renamed after the well-known hunter-naturalist turned author & photographer, Jim Corbett in the year 1957. Rich in flora & fauna, it’s known for its Bengal tigers, leopards, elephants etc. along with 50 other species of mammals & 600 hundred species of birds.

Each zone has its own natural charm with their specific landscape beauty and wildlife. However, the tiger sighting is more or less equal in every zone along with the little bit of difference in topography as all the zones are the part of the same ecological land.

Garjiya Devi Temple

Garjiya Devi Temple is a revered temple on the outskirts of the Corbett National Parkin village Garjiya near Ramnagar, Uttarakhand. The temple is a sacred Shakti shrine where Garjiya Devi is the presiding deity. The temple is situated over a large rock in the Kosi River and is one of the most famous temples which is visited by thousands of devotees during Kartik Poornima.

Sitabani Temple

Sitabani Temple is situated in the Sitavani Wildlife Reserve of the Jim Corbett National Park. It is an ancient temple, famous for its religious significance and temple architecture. The presiding deity is Goddess Sita, who lived in the region during her exile before facing the ‘Agnipariksha’.The site of the temple is said to be the hermitage of the Maharishi Balmiki. Number of amlaka stones, one headless dancing Ganesha sculpture, doorjamb, decorated columns carved slabs scattered near the present temple prove the antiquity of the site.

Dhangarhi Museum

Dhangarhi Museum is located near Dhangarhi Gate of the Corbett National Park highlights the history of man-eating tigers, elephants as well as other animals who have been killed by hunter & naturalist Jim Corbett.Some of the soul-stirring displays include the hunted untamed animals and glass areas having the heads of tigers and elephants killed in fierce battles. This Museum is a treat for Historians, heritage and wildlife enthusiastswhich also has a souvenir shop from where you can pick some wildlife generals, books& memoirs related to Corbett National Park.

Corbett Waterfall

Eloped in the dense teak wood forest, Corbett Waterfall is a scenic place great for camping or enjoying a picnic. The 20 meters high Waterfall, the picturesque surroundings of the Corbett National Park & the melody of chippings birds, the Corbett Fall is a beautiful place rejuvenate in the lap of nature. The serene uncrowded place is also great for birdwatching.
