Bhimtal Lake

Surrounded by dense forests, the Bhimtal Lake is a beautiful water body with a unique natural island in the middle. The joy of Boating in the picturesque lake along witha visit to the Victoria Damas well as a large aquarium on its centre island makesthe Bhimtal lake a favorite tourist place.Besides enjoying the vistas from the peripheral road on the banks of the lake,one can also visit the local market nearby to experience the wonderful Kumaoni food & culture.

Folk Culture Museum

Founded in 1983, The Folk Culture Museum also known as 'Lok Sanskriti Sangrahalaya' and exhibits various collections of folk paintings & ancient wooden artefacts;reproductions & photographs of rock art; dioramas on tribal & folk life, life-size images of different tribal people & models of dwelling units along with ancient manuscripts, images of god and goddesses, agricultural implements & costumes. The The Folk Culture Museumwas founded by a well-known painter & an archaeologist and a rock art scholar Dr. Yashodhar Mathpal.

Naukuchiatal or 'lake of nine corners' is the deepest lake in Bhimtal with crystal-clear water and a beautiful scenic view. Surrounded by hills covered in trees and shrubs, this less crowdednine corneredlake forms a captivating sight & also an excellent place for short refreshing walks. This mesmerizing lake located within the confines of an enchanting valley & is famous for adventurous activities such as Boating, Paragliding, Fishing etc.

Sattal or Saat Tal ('seven lakes' in Hindi) is an interconnected group of seven freshwater lakes situated in the Himalayan Range near Bhimtal.Located at an altitude of 1370 metres & surrounded by dense forests of oak and pine trees, Sattal is one of the few unspoiled and unpolluted freshwater biomes in India. Sattal is unique for its biodiversity and ecological amplitude. It has 500 species of resident and migratory birds, 20 species of mammals & over 525 species of butterflies among other insects.

Kainchi Dham

Built besides a mountain river in a scenic location, the Kainchi Ashram was established in 1964 adjoining a Hanuman Temple by Hindu guru & mystic saint Neem Karoli Maharaj. The positive vibes, cleanliness & pleasing hilly surroundings make it a must visit place. Saint Neem Karoli Maharaj's notable disciples include Apple's co-founder Steve Jobs, Facebook's co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, Google's co-founder Larry Pageamong others. Kainchi Dham's Bhandara takes place on June 15th every year & it is visited by thousands of devotees.

Ghorakhal Golu Devta Temple

The famous Ghorakhal temple of Golu Devta is characterized by the large number of bells hanging in the premises.The bells are hung by the devotees as offerings making a wish or in thanksgiving on the fulfillment of one's wish. Lord Golu is sought to be a revered local deity in Kumaon region & deemed to be incarnation of Lord Shiva.Ghorakhal is also renowned for its Sanik School which was established in 1966.
